When it comes to binding machines, GBC Surebind was originally created to provide a competitive alternative to Velobind (before GBC bought the Velobind brand). It uses a ten pin configuration that actually works with the 19-hole pattern produced by a plastic comb binding punch. However, for the bind to look right you will need to adjust the depth of punch margin to be close to the edge of your document if using a comb bind punch. The other major advantage that this style brings to the table is that it is highly tamper resistant. The machine will actually rivet your documents together using hot knife technology. If you want to edit a document bound with SureBind you will need to cut the spine off the document using a debinding tool and then rebind it. This tamper resistance makes this a popular binding style for legal and government applications.
