Choose the board color around the graphic and the visible edge. White is usually best for full-color artwork, photo mounting, menu signs, and printed graphics because it gives the image a clean background and keeps colors looking bright. Black is useful when the edge of the board will show, when the design uses dark branding, or when you want the finished piece to have a framed look without adding a separate frame. If adhesive graphics will cover the entire face, color may seem less important, but the edge can still show after trimming. For brand work, match the board choice to the finished display, not just the sheet sitting on the table.

Sintra can work for both, but the right choice depends on your equipment and the finish you need. Print shops with the right flatbed printer may print directly to the smooth matte surface using suitable inks. Offices, sign teams, and display departments that do not direct-print usually mount adhesive graphics to the board. That approach is practical for posters, signs, photos, and retail graphics because the board gives the print a rigid, clean backing. If the project uses pressure-sensitive graphics, compare mounting boards so you can choose the right substrate for the display life, thickness, and finish. Good mounting helps the final piece stay smooth and professional.

Sintra PVC board can be used for many indoor and outdoor sign projects, but the setup matters. For short-term outdoor use, thinner material may be enough if the sign is mounted flat and protected from rough handling. For larger panels, longer use, or areas with wind and frequent contact, a thicker board is the safer choice because it resists flexing better. Also consider how the graphic is produced. Ink, adhesive film, and any protective laminate should be suitable for the expected exposure. If the board will sit in direct sun, rain, or a high-touch location, choose the heavier option and make sure the printed or mounted graphic is built for that use.

Cutting quality affects the final display almost as much as the print. Thin Sintra can often be scored with a sharp blade and snapped, while thicker sheets and repeated cuts are easier to handle with proper cutting equipment. Always support the sheet fully so the edge does not flex while cutting. If the board has a mounted graphic, measure from the image area and leave the border you want before making the final trim. For repeated sign work, larger sheets, or cleaner production edges, use board trimmers and cutters instead of a small utility knife. Clean cuts help the board look finished, especially when the edge remains visible.
