Wire binding is not designed for repeated opening in the way plastic comb binding is. To edit the document, the closed wire normally has to be cut or carefully opened and then replaced with a new spine. Reusing a wire can produce uneven loops, a visible seam, or weak closure points. For documents that change frequently, consider whether permanent wire binding suits the workflow before placing a large order. If an occasional revision is expected, keep spare wires in the same diameter, pitch, and finish. During replacement, preserve the original punched sheets and insert the new or revised material in the correct order. Confirm the updated stack thickness before closing the new wire, since added content may require a larger diameter.
