Keep the printed front facing outward and make sure the strap does not interfere with a magnetic stripe or contactless tap area. After assembly, walk and scan the card several times. A correctly positioned strap should flex without opening, and the badge should return to a consistent position instead of wrapping around the cord.

A carabiner attachment is useful when the reel must connect to belt loops, bag straps, zippers, or other fixed points that a slide clip cannot grip securely. The gated hook surrounds the attachment point, which can be more dependable during frequent movement. Carabiner badge reels often pair that secure body attachment with a vinyl strap for the credential. This arrangement suits people who do not always wear a belt or firm pocket edge. Confirm that the carabiner opening fits the intended loop and that the strap fits the badge holder. The hook, cord, strap, and card should be tested together under the normal pull angle.
