Consider whether the design will be read from several feet away or handled closely. Use a clear headline, adequate type size, and enough open space around contact details. A full size paper mockup placed on an actual door can reveal fit and readability issues before artwork is finalized.

A built in pocket is useful when the campaign includes a separate item that should remain intact, such as a business card, coupon, reply card, or small information insert. Door hangers with pockets keep that material attached without requiring it to be printed as a detachable part of the main hanger. Confirm the pocket dimensions before producing inserts, and leave enough tolerance for easy insertion without making the item loose. Keep the main message understandable even if the insert is removed.
