Choose holding strength according to the total weight, surface position, and frequency of handling. A small round magnet may hold one lightweight note, while laminated instructions, card stock signs, or several sheets may need a larger magnet or more than one contact point. Product ratings based on sheet count are useful only when the paper weight and board surface are similar to the test conditions. A notice placed on a vertical board may also slide if the face is smooth or if the magnet has limited contact area. For materials that will be removed often, use enough strength to hold securely without making the magnet difficult to lift. Test the heaviest item you plan to display before purchasing a large quantity, and leave a safety margin for airflow, vibration, and repeated handling.

Writable magnetic tape and data cards work well when the magnetic piece also needs to carry information. They can identify names, dates, tasks, inventory locations, room assignments, or workflow stages without placing a separate paper label under a round magnet. Because they can be moved, they suit schedules and status boards that change frequently. Other board accessories can support the same setup with holders, writing tools, and organization items. Select a writable finish that accepts the intended marker, then confirm how easily the writing can be removed. Tape can be cut to the required length, while precut cards provide consistent sizes. Keep labels large enough to read from the normal viewing distance and avoid overcrowding the board with pieces that are too small.

Adhesive backed magnetic tape is useful when a nonmagnetic item needs to become movable on a steel surface. One side attaches to the label, sign, tool, or lightweight object, while the magnetic side holds it to the board. It suits items that will stay attached to their magnetic backing over time. Reusable magnets are better when the paper or notice changes often because they do not require adhesive on each new item. Before using adhesive tape, confirm that the object is clean, dry, and light enough for the magnetic strength. Also consider whether removing the adhesive later could mark the object. For frequently updated notices, separate magnets usually create less waste. For permanent labels that need occasional repositioning, adhesive magnetic tape can provide a neat and consistent attachment method.

When the surface is not magnetic, choose an attachment method that suits the material and how often the information changes. A bulletin board accepts push pins and works well for notices, schedules, and printed materials that need regular replacement. Adhesive strips or removable mounting products may suit smooth walls, but the surface finish and weight limits must be confirmed first. Clips, pockets, or rail systems can hold papers without puncturing them. If writing and display functions are both needed, an adhesive dry erase sheet may provide a separate writing area while another method holds printed items. Do not assume a stronger magnet will solve a nonmagnetic surface. Test the chosen attachment on a small area so it holds securely without damaging paint, fabric, or the displayed material.
