Heavier stock gives dividers better stiffness and helps them turn cleanly without folding. Reinforced tab edges are useful when documents will be opened repeatedly, transported, or shared among several people. Plain paper tabs may be adequate for short-term internal materials, but they can wear quickly when users pull directly on the tab. Consider the strength of the tab itself, the main sheet, and the punched binding edge. The divider must also feed through any intended printer or copier. Test the selected material with the actual printing, punching, and binding process before ordering a large quantity.
