Rotate the stick when the blade has created a deep or uneven cutting groove that begins affecting cut quality. Many cutting sticks have multiple usable surfaces, allowing them to be turned before a new replacement is required. Replacement is appropriate when all usable sides are deeply marked, damaged, warped, or no longer support a clean cut. A worn stick can leave the bottom sheets incompletely cut and may encourage the operator to apply unnecessary blade pressure. Inspect the cutting line regularly instead of waiting for repeated cutting problems. Keeping a spare available can reduce downtime, particularly in production environments where the cutter is used throughout the day.

An incorrectly sized or unsuitable stick can affect blade travel, cutting depth, alignment, and the support provided beneath the paper stack. If the stick sits too high, the blade may strike it more deeply than intended. If it sits too low, the bottom sheets may not cut completely. Poor fit can also cause movement inside the cutting channel. Over time, these conditions may increase blade wear or produce unreliable cuts. Always use a replacement intended for the specific cutter model and install it according to the equipment instructions. Cutting sticks are consumable components, but they still play an important role in protecting the blade and maintaining consistent results.

Multipacks are useful because cutting sticks wear gradually and may need to be changed more often in high-volume environments. Keeping several replacements on hand helps avoid interruptions when all usable surfaces of the installed stick have been exhausted. Pack quantity should be considered alongside cutting frequency, stick life, storage conditions, and the number of cutters using the same replacement size. Store unused sticks flat and away from excessive heat or pressure that might cause distortion. A larger pack may be practical for production departments, while occasional users may need only a smaller quantity. Always confirm that every stick in the pack matches the exact cutter model.

The blade and cutting stick wear together, but they do not always need replacement at the same time. First inspect cut quality, blade condition, and the depth of the groove in the stick. Rotating or replacing the stick may solve incomplete bottom cuts when the blade is still sharp. A dull or damaged blade can continue producing rough or uneven edges even with a new stick. Follow the cutter’s maintenance schedule and avoid increasing blade pressure to compensate for worn parts. When the blade itself needs attention, suitable paper-cutter replacement blades should be matched carefully to the cutter model.
