GBC Laminating Cartridges

Choose thickness according to the finished item and the machine’s supported range. Thinner film works well for documents that need flexibility, economical protection, or easy filing. Thicker film provides more stiffness and may suit frequently handled signs, instructions, reference sheets, or presentation materials. The total finished thickness includes both film layers and the document, so very heavy stock may require a lower film thickness. Confirm that the cartridge and machine are designed for the chosen material. Using unsupported thickness can cause poor feeding, incomplete bonding, curling, or jams. A sample run is useful when changing document stock or film thickness.

A full cartridge includes the housing and installed film, allowing it to be placed into the compatible laminator as a complete unit. A refill provides replacement film for a reusable cartridge housing. Refillable systems may reduce the amount of housing discarded, but the refill must match the cartridge type, width, film thickness, and loading method. Inspect the reusable housing for damage before installing new material. For the relevant GBC system, GBC laminating accessories may include cartridges or related items that support routine operation. Follow the loading instructions carefully so the film feeds in the correct direction.

Group jobs by size, thickness, and finish so the machine does not require frequent cartridge changes. Arrange smaller documents efficiently within the usable width while maintaining enough spacing for trimming. Allow the machine to complete its normal feed and cutting cycle rather than pulling material manually. If the laminator offers automatic feeding or trimming settings, use the correct document size and alignment guides. Store partially used cartridges in a clean, dry location where film edges cannot become crushed. Wasted film can also increase when documents enter crooked, so square the sheets before loading and avoid mixing curled or uneven stock in the same run.

Replace the cartridge when the film is depleted, the housing is cracked, the rollers or guides are damaged, or the material no longer feeds evenly. Persistent wrinkles, uneven tension, edge wandering, or repeated jams may indicate a cartridge problem, although machine cleaning and document alignment should also be ruled out. Do not force a damaged housing back into the machine. For applications requiring a different loading format, EZ Load laminating film may be suitable only when the laminator is built for that system. Keep cartridges sealed or covered during storage to protect the film surface from dust.
