A general trash bag may physically fit some waste containers, but it can be too loose, too short, or too weak for the shredder cabinet. Loose plastic can fold inward, block sensors, catch shredded material, or move close to the cutting mechanism. A thin bag may also tear when dense paper particles are lifted from the bin. Follow the machine instructions and use a substitute only when its dimensions, strength, and placement are confirmed as safe. Never allow any part of the liner to enter moving components. Inspect the first filling cycle carefully before relying on a substitute for regular waste disposal.

Record the shredder brand, exact model number, compatible liner reference, package quantity, bag dimensions, and typical monthly usage. Keeping a photograph of the existing packaging can prevent mistakes when several similar machines are maintained. Note whether the equipment uses a removable bin, cabinet liner, box, or another waste-handling arrangement.
