Its width, shape, and position determine which fittings can pass through and whether the badge will hang straight. Some rigid cards include a punched slot, while vinyl holders may have one or more slots and chain holes. An attachment that is too wide may not fit, while a narrow fitting can allow excessive movement or twisting. Avoid forcing hardware through a slot because this can tear the holder or weaken the card. For bulk orders, test the exact holder and attachment together, including any insert, so the assembled credential remains secure during walking, sitting, scanning, and normal handling.

Strap clips work well when a slotted badge holder needs a short flexible connection to clothing. The strap passes through the holder slot, while the clip grips a pocket, collar, lapel, or another suitable garment edge. This arrangement can allow the badge to hang more naturally than a clip fixed directly to the holder. Choose strap material and length according to daily movement, visibility needs, and the weight of the credential. The clip face and grip should suit the fabric without slipping or causing unnecessary marks.
