Confirm the finished sheet size rather than relying on the general name of the document. Letter, half letter, legal, ledger, A4, and other formats require different sheet dimensions and may also need different binding edges. Consider whether tabs, covers, foldouts, or oversized inserts will extend beyond the body sheets. The paper must also fit the printer or copier that will handle it before binding. If several departments use different formats, record the exact width, height, and punch edge for each job. This avoids ordering paper that fits the binding machine but not the printing equipment, or paper that prints correctly but leaves the holes on the wrong side.
