Material type affects the motor, blade, pressure support, dust control, and cutting method required. Wood panels, MDF, laminates, acrylic, foam board, PVC, and aluminum composite materials do not all respond to the same blade or cutting setup. Thin and flexible sheets may need added support to prevent movement or edge damage, while thicker rigid panels require sufficient cutting depth and motor capacity. Confirm the approved materials and maximum thickness for the machine before ordering. The correct blade must also suit the substrate, because a general-purpose blade may not give the cleanest result on plastics, laminates, or specialty panels. Base the purchase on the materials processed most often rather than an occasional unusual job.
