Confirm whether the machine also allows adjustment of throat depth, power, or trigger position. The work surface should support the material fully so it does not move when the staple is driven.

Use only the staple sizes or cartridges approved for the exact Staplex model. Capacity alone does not identify the correct supply because different machines may use different crown widths, wire gauges, leg lengths, or cartridge formats. The available Staplex staples should be matched by machine reference before ordering. Estimate usage from daily production and the number of staples placed in each document or package. Keep enough stock for routine work without storing supplies in damp or dusty conditions that could affect feeding. When the machine supports several leg lengths, label each box with its intended sheet range. Never mix loose staples from different boxes, even when they appear similar.

Throat depth determines how far the staple can be positioned from the edge of the material. A shallow reach may be sufficient for corner stapling and ordinary office documents, while booklets, header cards, packaging, and centre-positioned work may require greater reach. Measure the distance from the material edge to the intended staple line before choosing a machine. Adjustable depth stops can help maintain consistent placement across repeated jobs. Capacity and reach should be considered together because a machine may handle the required sheet count but still be unable to reach the desired position. Also confirm that the table and guides can support the material without bending. Testing a full-size sample is the most reliable way to confirm placement requirements.

A multi-head stapler is useful when each item needs two or more staples placed at consistent spacing. Common applications include reports, header cards, packaging, booklets, and production materials where separate manual stapling would take too long or lead to uneven placement. The wider selection of commercial staplers may include single-head and multi-head formats for different workloads. Confirm whether each head can be activated independently and whether the spacing can be adjusted to suit the job. Document width, material thickness, staple supply, and production rate must all fall within the machine’s limits. A multi-head system offers little advantage when staple positions change constantly or the workload remains very low.
