A Quality Product. Review by C. M. Guzowsky

It works great. Compact does not fairly cover its small size. I like it though and it puts a very nice point as well. However I would not recommend carrying it around in your pocket. It is so small that it would easily be lost when extracting something else from the same pocket. Who would have thought such a small item would work so well.

Simple and effective Review by Aidan Hughes

I've tried a lot of lead pointers, but then again most fit only the 2mm Staedtler pencils. This works with any 2mm pencil or lead holder and is clean, easy to use, and effective. Recommend.

This is the Dahle Personal Lead Pointer!

First, you can twist the cap to open and close the opening to insert your lead.

Pull the cap off to empty the graphite dust, you can also remove the actual sharpener from the canister—or choose to actually use it this way, and now I can show you how it works!

Gently twist your lead until it’s sharper!

If you try inserting an actual pencil, the wood will get in the way—this is made more specifically for 2mm mechanical drafting pencils.

Since I didn’t have one on hand I shaved off some wood from a normal pencil to simulate it, now the lead sharpened to a nice point(and just the lead).

Insert the point into the cleaning plug to remove any graphite dust from the tip.

Here is a comparison of a pencil sharpened with a standard sharpener to the lead sharpened with this lead pointer.

Questions & Answers
Q:
I have actually been looking for a lead pointer like what is inside the container of the 53484 with the intention of repointing the tip of my colored pencils. If my pencil has already been steeply sharpened would it repoint my pencil tip?

A:
Thank you for your question. The only issue that i could for see is the pencil not fitting in the"throat" of the sharpener if not enough of the "lead" is exposed. In the product demo video demonstrates the sharpener in action and shows the use with a standard pencil which would have similar dimensions as a colored pencils.
