Create low cost professionally bound books on demand with the DB-280 Perfect Binder. This single plant perfect binder provides an efficient high quality production of a variety of thick books making it ideal for corporate offices and commercial printers with short run demands. Eliminate storage fees and unwanted extras by producing documents such as catalogs, manuals, notepads, and self-published books on demand within minutes and in quantities as small as one. The DB-280 provides a user-friendly control panel making it easy for anyone to operate. With a touch of a button, users can automatically change over jobs and switch between the three binding modes that are perfect binding, padding, and tape binding. Creating books is easy. For perfect bound soft books, press automatic and place the book block in the clamp. The DB-280 will automatically process it through the notching, gluing, and nipping areas minimizing operator intervention for greater productivity. A double pass over the notching section ensures this bind is well roughened as rotating blades cut deep wide notches into the spine allowing the glue to seep deeper into the grooves for maximum glue penetration. Paper dust generator during this process is immediately removed by the unique dust extraction system preventing it from entering the glue tank and maintaining the perfect binder clean at all times. As the book is processed over the glue tank, EVA adhesive is applied evenly along the spine via two rotary drums. The DB-280 utilizes specially formulated glue that is low in odor and binds a wider range of bond and offset paper as well as some coated sheets. Once the book is returned to the nipping station, the soft cover is firmly pressed and wrapped around all three sides of the spine delivering a perfectly square and professional finish. Covers are to be placed in the nipping table after the book is notched the first time. Detection sensors ensure the clamp does not move until the cover is in place. Measuring guides help the operator center the cover for perfect alignment. To create strip down books such as manuals, simply place the tape strip in the nipping station and switch to tape mode. Once the book is processed, remove the tape adhesive and you're done. Padded notepads don't require any type of cover. Just place the sheets in the clamp, switch to pad mode, and receive quality padded books in a matter of seconds. Whether you need to create thick soft cover books, tape bound manuals, or padded notebooks, the DB-280 perfect binder makes book binding fast and easy. There are two supplies you can use with the machine, glue and strip tape.
The glue comes in 30lb cartons for about $144 per carton. The strips come in packs of 100 for about $77. The amount of books per carton of glue will vary.
The dimensions and thickness of the books will affect the amount of glue per job and also how you set the machine. You can adjust how much or how little glue you want applied. You will get a considerable amount of books before running out.
