excellent product Review by LETITIA

I could not be more pleased with my purchase of the Fellowes machine.
It works perfectly. Instructions were not difficult to follow.
I am so glad I chose this particular binding machine, after I read info on many others.

very helpful to have Review by vicki

This comb binding machine is very good. I have been able to make some needed notebooks and it performs well.I previously had a wonderful all-metal binding machine and at first was a bit skeptical about this one, but it does the job and seems sturdy. My only caveat is that it would be nice to have a bit clearer info about punching the holes. I figured it out and now it is okay, but would suggest a bit of clarification. Overall I am very pleased with it.

great machine! Review by Sherri

I have used a binding machine for my organizations yearly journal of about 50-60 pages for several years. It was all plastic, the area for the paper cut-outs was small and plugged easily. It was a one hand pull down and worked hard. Yours is so easy to pull down. It was a pleasure to do the journal binding this year! I had to do 55 copies, but it was well worth the investment and I foresee it being used for many years!

Easy to use Review by Lynda

Simple to use, first of all you punch holes in the paper. it's really easy to get the holes in the right place (not too close to the edge) since you load the paper vertically, and then pull down the big handle. When all your papers are punched you pop a comb on the lower part pull the side lever forward until the comb is open, feed the papers on to the comb, push the lever back to its original position and you are done. The big handle used to punch holes, and the paper support both fold flat so it is easy to store. Mybinding.com had the best prices. I am super happy with my purchase

Great Combing Machine Review by Debbie Gaskill

This product is built of excellent-quality materials, is very easy to use, and works consistently every time to create beautiful bindings! The only thing I was confused about in learning to use this product was how to place the combs in the machine. The guide does not describe which direction the teeth of the comb should be placed into the "mechanism". I quickly learned that if you hold the comb lengthwise in front of you with its spine to the back where the teeth starting in a downward position and wrapping upwards to face you and then over the top towards the back again. When inserting in the "mechanism" make sure you seat the comb securely starting to the right of the first metal tooth of the mechanism. When you pull the lever to open the comb it should open smoothly. If it is too hard to open then you have put the comb in the wrong direction.

This is the size of the comb binding you'll want to use. You can do the same for the binding itself. Next, with the teeth of the binding facing up, place it on to the machine. Pull the lever so that your book is open enough to insert your pages, then thread your pages in facing down. You may find that you have to thread smaller batches of pages until your book is complete, then close the binding up and you're ready to read. And don't forget to empty the trimming tray at the bottom periodically. For more demos, reviews and how-to's, go to MyBinding.com.

Q:
Will this machine punch one sheet/page at a time of 1/16" thick matboard?
Asked by RObert Booth
A:
Thank you for your question. The Fellowes Star+ 150 Manual Comb Binding Machine would not reliably be able to punch a 1/16 of mat board. You would want to look for a more robust machine, you would be looking for a machine that would be able to punch in the neighborhood of 20 sheets at a time.

Q:
Will this machine punch smaller size booklets, such as 5x7 or 6x6? Thanks in advance for your prompt reply!
Asked by WriteWords By RosaLinda
A:
Thank you for your question. This machine will punch any size paper. But what you should look for is a punch with dis-engageable pins. This will allow you to dis-engage pins that may punch half punches on the edge of the paper.

Q:
are you able to use metal combs with this machine?
Asked by julie
A:
Thank you for your question. While there is a type of wire ( Spiral-O Wire) that has the same spacing as comb binding. With Spiral-O wire you need to have a wire closer and unfortunately the Fellowes Star+ 150 Manual Comb Binding Machine does not have a wire closer. It is just set up to use standard plastic combs.

That is a great questions there. This machine is able to bind up to 150 sheets of 20lb paper and the comb that would be able to hold 150 sheets would be the 3/4" comb.

Q:
Can this machine punch glossy stock?
Asked by Joey J.
'>
A:
This machine shouldn't have any problem punching most types of paper stock. It can even punch plastic covers as long as you punch them one at a time and they aren't too thick. Just don't try to punch too many sheets at once and you should be fine.
