GBC Electric VeloBind Punch V110e Binding Machine Demo Video
Welcome to MyBinding video. Today we look at the GBC VeloBind V110e, an electric binding punch for the VeloBind system. With easy push-button programming for enhanced productivity, the V110 is a great little system. Let's watch it in action. Sliding your materials into the throat of the machine and all the way to the left, press the button and the holes are punched. The V110e punches only for the 4-pin VeloBind strips, not the 11-pin. Continue punching through the rest of your project. It's time to bind. With your book in order and faced down, place it over the nail end of the VeloBind strip that's face up. With all four pins all the way through, place the back strip with the groove facing up over all four pins as well. And using the round end of the opening and closing tool, curve faced up, run it over the spine from the outside in, pushing them down into the groove. And the same tool tool can be used for opening pins if you need to edit the document. And simply re-close after. There it is. VeloBind punching and binding made easy with the V110e by GBC. GBC Velobind V110e Electric Four Pin Velobind Punch Product Review
The Velobind V110e is an updated version of the GBC Velobind V110, an electric punch designed for punching holes for four pin re-closable Velobind strips. The punch is a lower-cost alternative for companies who like the look of GBC Velobind but don’t want to spend over $1000 on a hot knife binding system. The V110e is an inexpensive binding system with a high-end look that makes it easy for the addition or removal of pages.
Features:
The V110e uses a simple to operate push button punching control that can punch up to 24 sheets (actually more like 20) with a small four hole round pattern – and impressive punching capacity for such an inexpensive electric machine. The punch also has a convenient jam release lever on its side to help with potential paper jams. For prevention of paper jams, however, only punch 2 plastic covers at a time and don’t overload the machine. This is critical to avoid delays and to ensure that the V110 is working at maximum capacity and efficiency. The V110e includes a small re-closable Velobind bind and de-bind tool. This small gray plastic tool is used to push the pins down into the back of the receiving strip during the binding process. In addition, the tool can also be used to help you edit the bound documents if the pins are to be released later. This gives you the flexibility for editing your projects in a quick, easy and seamless fashion.
Limitations:
The V110e can be very effective, but is not without limitations. To begin with, its just a punch, and doesn’t include a finishing unit of any kind, so inserting the four pin strips through the holes and snapping them in place is a manual process. This isn’t a problem for small volume projects, but is impractical and tedious for larger-volume projects. Punching large numbers of clear plastic covers or using this punch too much may cause the dies to begin to dull. Unfortunately, the dies for this machine aren’t replaceable, requiring the replacement of the entire machine if this occurs. A pre-punched plastic or poly covers is recommended with the V110e and luckily, the hole pattern for 11 pin Velobind is compatible with the four pin pattern used by the V110e so pre-punched items should be readily available.
There are a limited number of supplies available for the V110e binding system. Currently, four pin strips are available in Black; Navy Blue and White and Burgundy strips used to be available but are now discontinued. If these three colors don’t fit your needs then the V110e isn’t a good fit for you.
In addition, if you’re looking for the security of a traditional hot knife Velobind system, then potentially, the V110e may not be the system that meets your needs. The V110e, with its re-closable strips, is by no means the perfect option for those seeking a great deal of security.
Recommendation:
If you like the look of Velobind and are looking for an economical solution then the V110e is the recommended option for you. It has style, and function at a price you can afford. This machine is Ideal for organizations with low to medium amounts of binding work, or those looking for a highly professional looking, re-closable binding solution. If your needs include high security or high-volume however, the V110e may not be the best binder for you, with its limitations in this area. Great value? Yes. Great Security? Not necessarily. But the GBC V110 electric is a good option and should be considered carefully for your binding needs.
