Like the larger floor standing paper drills that Lassco Wizer makes, this Spinnit drill offers easily moveable heads and an enormous two inch drilling capacity. The Lassco Wizer FMM-3 is a manual lift paper drill which simply means that the drilling speed is manually controlled by applying pressure with your foot causing the drilling spindles to descend. The manual control is a great way to save money while maintaining control of the drilling process. However, Lassco Spinnit also makes three spindle drills with your choice of pneumatic or hydraulic drilling controls.

This is the Lassco Wizer Spinnit Manual Lift Spindle Paper Drill. Manufactured for single, double, and triple spindle, this is a long lasting heavy duty machine. We took our cameras down to the construction facility to watch one of our own Spinnits in action with our Tech, Tony. It has a large work table at 15" x 32" wide. It's shipped with four separate standard measuring plates so you can set your machine where you want it and make multiple punches even if it's a single spindle. The plates slide in the back and clamp down. The Spinnit has a 2" lift capacity that can bore through 500 sheets of paper in a time. The table is locked in place and unlocked by two handles on either side of the table so it can slide back and forth between your measurements. As the drill bit comes down, below it is a removable drill strip. This helps protect the drill bit in use. The Spinnit has hands-free foot pedal action that does the work for you while you hold your project. Adjustment at the height and lower end of the blade is by a double locking height knob right below the table. Part of paper drilling is clearing the hollow drill bit. When you do so, the chips fall out into container and into a bag in the back. And again, the drill bit is easily accessed behind the safety plate in the front for waxing and lubricating.     Welcome to MyBinding video. So you have the Lassco Wizer Spinnit Machine and you have a few questions on the maintenance and adjustment. Well, that’s what this video is all about. This is how to care for and adjust your Lassco Wizer Spinnit. As I’m sure you’ll agree, this is a great machine. Let’s walk through its different features. Let’s begin with measuring plate placement. Included in the box with the machine are four plates with standard holes. As you face the machine, just on the back side on the right side is a knob. Loosen it out and you can remove or add your measuring plates. Slide it all the way in till it snaps shut and then lock it down. When sliding the worktable left or right, you need to depress both handles at the same time and you can feel the clicks and the locks as it goes between the holes. Sometimes in paper drilling, the drill will go all the way through the paper and into the drill strip. Should this happen, you’ll need to make adjustments but you can also replace that wood strip. We carry many sizes for many machines. You’ll want to use a chip board below your paper stock so that you don’t bore in to that wood. You should just go barely into the chip board and not past it. The knob below the table is double locking. You’ll need to use both hands to raise or lower that drill. It’s important but when it’s there, it’s locked in place. It’s a good idea each time you use the machine to clear out the hollow drill bits. These chips can get in there, get compacted, and do damage. You can clear the bit while it’s in the machine or by hand. To save wear and tear on both the bit and the motor, be sure to wax or lubricate that drill bit. Drill-Ease is a great product that we sell and shaped kind of like a Chapstick. Lifting the safety glass on the front gives you access to the drill bit. Using the tool that’s including with your machine, pop out the bit and then sharpen it. Since paper drill bits are hollow, they’re actually sharpened from the inside. These special tools either by hand or the small machine are done very easily and should be done so on a regular basis. When operating your machine, please always do so with great caution because it is moving parts and they’re very sharp. And always line up your paper so they’re nice and square.     If you're in the market for a three spindle paper drill, one device that will probably fit your needs is the Lassco Wizer Spinnit FMM-3. This is a first-rate machine that can help you process a lot of paper quickly and it's packed with great features. Let's take a look at its strengths and weaknesses to see if it's right for you.

    Strengths:

    • Most paper drills tend to have the terrific ability to drill through 2 inches of material and the FMM-3 is no exception. A typical ream of paper contains 500 sheets and is about 2 inches tall, so you're going to be able to drill hundreds of sheets in just a few seconds. Imagine how much time that will save you.

    • This is a three spindle drill so you'll be able to drill three holes at once to produce the three-ring pattern needed for most binders. If you were using a single spindle device, you'd have to drill each hole separately which can be a pain.

    • The FMM-3 has a roomy 15" x 32" table so you'll be able to punch both letter- and legal-sized paper with ease. The table can traverse in both directions for your convenience.

    • Each one of the drilling heads is moveable so you can adjust them to your preference.

    • The FMM-3 is a manual device which helps keep it more affordable that a hydraulic or pneumatic machine. This machine is operated by a foot pedal and when you press on it, the drill bits will come down. Since this device is manual, you'll also have more control over the entire process so you'll be able to get the results you need.

    • This is one of the most affordable three spindle paper drills currently on the market. Plus, it comes with a one-year warranty so you're protected in case something goes wrong with the machine.

    Weaknesses:

    • The FMM-3 isn't really a good choice for smaller workplaces because of its size. Its dimensions are 52" x 32" x 26" so you're going to need a good amount of floor and wall space for it. Also, this machine is blue and it might be a bit of an eyesore for some people.

    • As you probably expected, this machine is heavy, tipping the scale at 275 pounds. Due to its weight, it needs to be shipped on a truck, so you might find the shipping costs a bit high.

    The Lassco Wizer Spinnit FMM-3 is a great three spindle paper drill and it's a fantastic choice if you need a device such as this for your workplace. This machine has the ability to process hundreds of sheets at a time and because it has three spindles, all three holes will be drilled simultaneously. You can use this machine to process both letter- and legal-sized paper and you can even adjust the position of the drilling heads.
