excellant item. Review by Patrick

I had purchased this item a little over a year ago. while I was trying to punch holes into plastic covers for my books.the handle on the coil binding machine, the screw that holds the handle on, broke, My Binding was very nice, and replaced the item, It stated that the item had a two year warranty. I would highly recommend this company.

Great machine Review by Glendel

This is a replacement for my previous coil binder. I was wary of the machine since the cost was less than current one. Love it! Very smooth to operate, clean cuts, easy to use.

Easy & Accurate Review by sue

I love this binder. I have had much bigger and cumbersome ones in the past. This is less weight and gets the job done!

So glad I purchased this machine. Too many problems at my local Copy & Print Center so I decided to do it on my own! Hubby has old guitar books to rebind and I print various manuals for binding. So much easier to do it myself.

I had this coil binding machine on my wishlist for quite some time. I didn't know if I would use it enough in my homeschool to warrant the purchase. Now I wish I had ordered it earlier. I'm not only using it to bind ebooks for my children, but I am able to make workbooks for them from printables I find on the internet. I also am about to make my own planner since I could never find one that suits my needs and it's all possible with this machine which lets me finish my products with a sturdy and professional look.

Welcome to MyBinding.com. This is the MiniCoil-R Round Hole Punch and Binding Machine.

Whether you're binding daily, monthly or yearly, this inexpensive machine makes binding simple and cost effective for you. All MyBinding’s machines are made with quality, long lasting materials and are backed by a two year warranty for peace of mind. Start by removing the thumbscrew on the right side, slip on the handle and replace the screw. Adjust the left edge stop for the correct size paper, then you can punch up to 8 pages of 20 pound paper. There's an easy 11 inch guide for standard paper, and the punch holes are all numbered. This particular machine makes round holes at a 4:1 pitch, meaning it makes four holes per inch and 43 per page. Remember to use 4:1 wire with these booklets. The tab on the left side of the machine is used to set your margins depending on the size of your booklet. Don’t forget to periodically empty the waste tray. After you've punched your pages and covers, take your coil and twist it by hand through every hole. Even out the ends, then take your coil crimpers and crimp the ends so it won't come unbound. To save considerable time spinning coils through your booklets, consider the MiniCoil-RE with the Electric Inserter. Stop paying expensive labor and make perfect booklets on your own time with MyBinding's line of hole punch and binding machines.

Q:
Would this fit to bind legal size paper 8.5x14" on the 14" side?
Asked by Teddy Tan
A:
Thank you for your question. The MINICOIL Manual Coil Binding Machine would not be able to punch a 14" length. You would need a machine with a open throat and a continuous punching guide such as Akiles line of Coilmac coil binding machines.

Q:
Hello. Im looking for a coil binding machine like this one. Can i use this machine to make personal agendas 8x6?
Asked by Yanly
A:
Thank you for your question. We recommend this machine for 11" punching as it does not have disengage-able pins/dies because of this punching anything smaller can leave a half punch on the edge of a sheet of paper.

Q:
What are the advantages of oval holes vs round holes? What are the disadvantages of round holes vs oval holes?
Asked by Ted
A:
Great Question! Oval holes are very convenient for larger books. It makes it easier to insert the coil when you have books larger than say 7/8 verses smaller books that don't really need the oval hole. The one advantage to the Oval hole though is it doesn't matter in smaller books if they do have oval holes and if you only occasionally do large books, it would be benificial to get the oval holes. If all of your books are under the 7/8 size, the round holes are great. Hope that answered your question. If you need help placing your order, please feel free to call us at 800-944-4573.

Q:
Will it punch 10 mil plastic laminating material
Asked by Mike H
A:
Thank you for your question. The MINICOIL Manual Coil Binding Machine would not be able to reliably punch 10 mil laminate. You would want a more robust machine. You would need a machine that is able to punch 15 - 20 sheets of 20# paper at time to be able to punch through a 10 mil laminate.

Q:
Will punching clear plastic covers damage this machine?
Asked by Hal
A:
Thank you for your question. The Minicoil would be able to punch 5mil and 7mil clear covers one at a time.

Q:
Could you bind the long side of 11X17 paper if you do half at a time?
Asked by Tim
A:
Thank you for your question. The MINICOIL Manual Coil Binding Machine - Round Hole has a open throat so a 11" X 17" sheet would fit in it and you could flip the sheet to punch holes on each end of the 17" side of the page. Where there would be a issue is that the MINICOIL does not have a continuous punching guide so there is no way to keep the spacing between the 2 halves.

Q:
How many holes does this punch?
Asked by Lisa
A:
Thank you for your question. The MINICOIL Manual Coil Binding Machine punches a 4:1 pitch, 43 round hole pattern.

Q:
Can you bind things smaller than 8.5 x 11?
Asked by Katrina
A:
Great question! You can bind smaller books however, this machine does not have disengageable pins so sometimes you can run into half circles at the edge of your document. It does have an adjustable side guide so you may be able to prevent this from happening. If you do have a specific size in mind, you can always send us samples and we can test to see if it will work. Please give us a call at 800-944-4573 if you need further assistance.

Q:
what size of holes? 6mm?
Asked by adarka
A:
Thank you for your question. The holes the MINICOIL Manual Coil Binding Machine punches are approx 4 mm in diameter.

Q:
How do I insert the coils on to the edge of my document?
Asked by Nelson S.
'>
A:
This is an entry level machine designed for low volume applications. As such it doesn't have an electric roller. This means that you will need to spin the coils onto the edge of your sheets by hand. It really isn't that bad as long as you aren't binding a lot of documents. If you need to do a lot of binding definitely consider the upgrade to a machine with an inserter and possibly to a machine with a larger capacity punch or an electric punching mechanism.

Q:
Does it come with crimping pliers? Do I need them?
Asked by R. Gonzalez
A:
This machine does not come with a pair of crimping pliers. However you can pick up a pair Here. Coil binding is a lot easier with a pair of crimpers. They will cut off the excess coil and bend over the end in a single process. Be sure to watch the video on the pliers page for some tips on how to use them.

Q:
What is the warranty on this machine?
Asked by Adams W.
A:
It comes with a 2 year warranty. If you have any issues just give us a call and we will help you troubleshoot it and if need it get it replaced. We also sell an extended warranty if you would like to extend it to 3 years. This option is available at checkout.

Q:
What is the difference between this and the other Minicoil machines?
Asked by R. Green
A:
We carry four different versions of the minicoil. Two round hole machines and two oval hole machines. One version of the round and oval hole machines has an electric inserter on the top and the other version does not. This machine is the round hole version without an inserter. It is the least expensive unit that we carry. Oval holes cost a little bit more and the inserter is also an upgrade.

where is it manufactured?
Asked by Ben H.
A:
This machine is manufactured in China.

Q:
Does the Minicoil have an open end that would allow punching wider documents?
Asked by Joshua J.
'>
A:
Yes it does have an open throat on the right side where the handle is. However it is going to be quite difficult to punch longer documents with the MiniCoil and not end up with a half hole on the edge of the paper. This machine doesn't have any disengageable dies. That means that you can't stop any of the holes from punching. This means that in order to punch the second half of your longer document after flipping it over you would need for all of the holes to line up exactly with your first punch. That is possible but extremely difficult to repeat continually.
