A round wire primarily creates the heat seal, while a cutter-style setup seals and separates excess film during the same operation. Some machines use a sliding cutter that trims the film after it has been positioned. The suitable design depends on the film format, package presentation, and how employees prepare each item. If film is repeatedly drawn from a roll, a cutting feature can reduce the need for separate scissors or knives. A basic round-wire setup may be sufficient when bags are already sized or when film is cut at another station. Confirm the replacement element type before ordering because wire profiles may not be interchangeable. The finished seal should remain even without burned areas, tears, or loose film around the package.

An I-bar sealer closes the film around the product, but shrink film still requires controlled heat to tighten around the package. Suitable shrink-wrap guns allow the operator to apply heat around the sides, corners, and underside after sealing. The work area should have a heat-resistant surface, suitable ventilation, and enough clearance to rotate the package safely. Employees should keep the heat source moving rather than concentrating it on one spot, which could burn the film or damage the contents. The full process includes selecting the film, measuring the package, forming the seal, trimming excess material, shrinking the film evenly, and inspecting the finished package for open seams, wrinkles, or distorted areas.

Film on a roll offers flexibility when package lengths vary, especially when the sealer includes a film roller and cutting method. The operator can draw enough material for each item and form packaging around products of different lengths. Pre-made bags reduce measuring and cutting, making them practical when the same item is wrapped repeatedly. The right format depends on product consistency, production volume, available storage, and acceptable film waste. Confirm that the film composition and thickness are suitable for both the sealer and the heat source. A sample run should show whether employees can position products, form straight seals, and shrink the material without creating excessive seams, open corners, or large amounts of unused film.

A larger system becomes practical when manual film handling, sealing, cutting, and shrinking can no longer keep pace with regular production. An I-bar sealer remains useful for low to moderate volume, changing product sizes, and work that requires a flexible bench setup. Before moving to larger equipment, calculate packages completed per hour, labour required for each cycle, available floor space, electrical needs, and the consistency expected from one package to the next.
