The New Akiles CoilMac ER Plus is a new and improved version of the classic CoilMac ER Manual Spiral Coil Binding Machine. This machine includes the solid construction, electric coil inserter and other great features that have made the Akiles Coilmac ER binding machine famous. However, it provides a number of features that are simply not available on other comparable binding machines. The New CoilMac ER+ offers 4mm x 5mm oval punching holes to help make inserting coils easier than ever. It also includes fully disengageable punching pins to allow you to punch virtually any document length. Plus, the Coilmac-ER-Plus offers a 0.248 pitch to help ensure that the holes aren't too closer or too far away from the edge of the paper. Like the orginal CoilMac ER, this system is easy to use, and will punch up to 20-sheets at a time utilizing the 4 to 1 coil punch die. Plus a small electric roller is mounted on the top of the machine to help with spinning your coils onto your documents. The Akiles CoilMac-ER+ makes coil binding fast, easy and professional, making it the ideal partner for medium volume workloads.

Welcome to MyBinding video. Today we look at the CoilMac ER Plus, a 4:1 pitch, oval hole, coil binding machine by Akiles. Let's watch it in action as we make a book.

With scrap paper, let's set our settings. First, the side margin control. Set this so the punches are consistent throughout your whole project. On the ER Plus, you can remove any of the disengageable die pins. Do this so there are no half holes no matter what size paper you have. Set the depth of margin control knob so that you can decide what size margin you want. Larger is stronger but smaller holds thicker books.

Once everything is set and you like the way it comes out, you're ready to go. Let's begin with the covers. Place them in, spine in first, and make your punch. Continue on through the rest of your project, punching up to 20 sheets of 20lb paper per lift. When your whole project is punched, organize it. It's time to bind.

Once you've selected the right size coil, begin to thread it on by hand through the first few holes. Operate the inserter by pressing the pedal either with hand or foot and drive the coil all the way through the spine. To finish off, crimp both ends with coil crimping pliers. Great machine/ Great Company

I’m so glad I found this machine!! It punches through my chipboard covers to make my journals. It seems very durable and well made. I Know it seems like a lot of money but, it’s well worth it. I’ve tried the other machines that are cheaper on Amazon and they just don’t do the job like this one does. You won’t be disappointed.

Heavy Duty Machine

I have not had much time to play around with it yet, but it is built like a tank and seems to be a very solid machine that is pretty easy to use. I have no experience with coil binding, yet my first attempt went really well. I didn't realize I needed to order the coil crimper separately, so with my trial run I used a pair of needle nose pliers and managed okay - promptly ordered the crimpers though and a couple larger sized coils. I believe this will provide much more functional binding for us in comparison to the comb binding that we were using.

Binding capacity: You can bind documents containing over 400 pages with this device.
Oval holes: While most coil binders punch circular holes, this machine punches oval ones. This allows the spines to be inserted much more quickly.
Built-in coil inserter: The CoilMac ER+ has a coil inserter built right into it. It’s located on the left side of the machine and is operated by a foot pedal. There’s even a pair of crimpers included so you can properly finish off your documents.

However, for professionals needing a sturdy machine that can give them fast, great-looking results, this would be the one to get. You’ll be surprised at how quickly you’ll get the results you need and how easy it is to get them. And you’ll definitely appreciate the excellent construction of this device. For offices and organizations needing a powerhouse of a coil binder, the CoilMac ER+ is the machine to get.
