Selecting the ideal coil diameter for your page capacity is a straightforward process. Refer to our capacity chart, conveniently provided here, which assists in determining the most suitable size based on either your stack thickness or an estimate of your sheet capacity. Our capacity chart simplifies the decision-making process for choosing the appropriate coil size.
In addition to the capacity chart, we offer a straightforward general rule comprising three easy steps to ensure a proper fit for any type of binding.
- Place the book to be bound on a flat table, ensuring it lies completely flat.
- Without compressing the paper, measure the thickness of the binding edge.
- Take that measurement and add 1/8" - this calculated value is the recommended size for the binding element that will perfectly suit your document thickness.

The calculation is based on 20 lb. bond paper, excluding covers and other paper stocks. The actual sheet capacity can vary based on the type of paper stock and covers you use. Therefore, we suggest using the stack capacity for a more precise fit. Keep in mind that all these capacities are approximations.
