It also includes an "Easy Switch" control element that uses color codes and back-lit symbols to indicate operational status. The Destroyit 3105 SMC High Security Shredder will automatically stop when your shred bin is full or when the cabinet door is opened, making this a machine that puts safety first. If you’re looking for a high security shredder that is easy to use with lots of features, stop right here. The MBM Destroyit 3105 SMC shredder has many safety and automatic functions that make use a breeze. Power is not sacrificed for convenience; a robust motor drives hardened steel blades to quickly destroy all your sensitive documents. This machine is ideal for hospitals, banks, and other businesses needing complete destruction of confidential material. Here is a closer look at the 3105 SMC.
Strengths:
- Abundant safety features are found on here. An electronically controlled clear guard covers the paper entry to prevent fingers and other objects from getting caught in the blades. A single switch controls stand-by, stop, and reverse functions. Backlit symbols tell you exactly which mode your shredder is in. The stop function activates automatically if the shred bin is full, the cabinet is open, or if there is a jam. Paper clogs are easily cleared as the auto reverse spits the items back out to the user. After one hour of idleness, the machine powers down to a sleep mode to conserve electricity.
- The powerful single phase motor is double protected against overheating and rated for continuous run. A dustproof housing hold the durable gears and helps prevent corrosion. Weaknesses:
- This machine is only able to handle 12-16 sheets at once. This is a good rate for a level 6 shredder and paper is quickly devoured as fast as 44 feet per minute so we don’t foresee this to be a problem. However, if you are more interested in capacity than security, this model comes in lower security versions that accept as many as 52 sheets at once.
- Weighing 324 pounds, this machine is a heavy piece of office equipment. Even so, it is mounted on heavy duty casters that make mobility easier and we don’t think this will be much of a problem for most users.
