It's rated as a heavy duty punch. The exact pages escapes me now, but the page rating is most likely based on 20 pound paper or lighter. If you're using 24 or 28 pound paper you won't get the same number of sheets. Also, the manufacturer recommends oiling the springs - this is apparently the reason my original punch stopped working. I'm using "3-in-one" oil, it comes in a small 1, 3, 6 ounce bottle and can apply a single drop as needed.

Good teacher's tool

I'm a teacher and my school requires the kids to use binders to organize their work but has not provided a working hole punch for teachers. This was by far the best value for punching almost a class' worth of handouts and I gave it a shot. The punching works well and though I haven't counted the sheets it's at least close to listed capacity. The students managed to get the guide unstuck but it was fixable. I'm definitely happy with this our purchase.
