For a fast and easy to use paper folder, the Tamerica TPF-42 Semi-Automatic is an excellent system. Rated for high volume use, this machine is built to be flexible and user friendly. Small to medium businesses, mail rooms, or print shops would highly benefit from the convenience and efficiency of this device. Here is a closer look at the strengths and weaknesses of the TPF-42.
Strengths:
- Use on this machine begins with an automatic on/off functions. A three roller feed system ensures the proper handling of all your items and feeds them one by one into the machine for folding. An LCD display offers a digital display for automated features. After a quick manual setup, aided by clearly marked guides, this folder is ready to go.
- Six standard folds are produced by this device and include single, letter, "Z", double parallel, fold out and gate folds. Custom folds are also available via manual adjustment.
- The paper tray can contain as many as 500 sheets of 20lb bond. Variable speed control allows you to choose the best rate for your paper, with a maximum speed of up to 7000 pages per hour. That rate assumes letter size paper of 20lb bond weight in a single fold.
- Paper weights can range from 12lb to 58lb bond, including some cardstocks. Size limits span from 3.5" x 5" up to 11" x 17", thought not all folds are available in all sizes.

Weaknesses
- The fold plates on this device are manually set up. While there is a guide to assist you, it can still be a tedious and difficult project to get exact placement of the plates. For offices only needing one or two folds, or for infrequent changes of the fold styles, this won't be too much of a hassle. But for businesses that utilize multiple folds on a regular basis, we suggest that you save yourself the trouble and upgrade to a machine with automatic adjustments.
- As with many paper folders, this one is not designed to properly fold glossy or coated paper. Many offices don't use these items and for them this won't present much of a problem. However, if your company does need to be able to fold specialty material, you might want to invest in an air-feed machine or one with this specific capability.
- One last thing that would be nice to see on this device is a manual feed for the folding of multi-page documents. But unless your operation folds large amounts of items with several pages, this won't be a problem.
