This Z-Series No. 1 Precision Knife features a safety cap, solid aluminum handle and one of the sharpest and most durable blades. The gold hue on the cutting edge is a zirconium nitride coating applied at the atomic level after blades are atomically sharpened. Needed a safety cap and this has one

I bought this specifically because it has a safety cap. I have a ton of handles and blades but I didn't have a single safety cap. I decided I wanted to keep an x-acto knife among a jar of my most used craft tools but I didn't want to have an exposed blade so I bought this. The handle is very good quality but I do occasionally have issues with the handle loosening and the blade falling out. I just started tightening it every time I use it so I don't have to worry about it falling out again. The safety cap fits nicely and is very heavy duty. Great purchase and I don't have to worry about grabbing for a knife and cutting my fingers. I wish I could have purchased multiple safety caps to keep on all of my blades but I don't think they sell just the caps. This purchase was well worth the price and I can always use extra handles and blades.

Works perfectly

I’m so happy I got this! I was making these poster board things for the phases of the moon (the poster boards with the styrofoam inside) where I needed a hole cut out for the students to put their head when they had the “moons” attached correctly... I’ve cut these boards before with a scissor and it was a nightmare. Well - not with this!! Literally, worked like a charm. I love the cap too, especially because I have a kid and I often reach into the area it’s stored and wouldn’t want either of us getting hurt.

Excellent replacement for original

I bought it to replace my 15 year old knife and it's solid just like the original. I like the safety cap for when I work, but it doesn't fit on the blade when I put it in my old plastic box for the set I bought years ago. But I keep it in the generic hole for stuff and pull it out when I'm working with that blade. I don't think the bronze is better or worse, but I love the safety feature because there were times I accidentally jabbed myself when it was laying on my drafting table. So it's worth it just for that alone.
