Frequently Asked Questions

Match the refill to the exact Xyron product line and model. Create-A-Sticker refills are for sticker-maker machines such as the 150, 250, and 500, with widths tied to those smaller units. They should not be mixed with the larger Xyron laminator and adhesive applicator systems, such as the 510, 850, 900, 1200, 1250, 1255, 2500 Pro, or 4400. Those larger systems use their own cartridge or roll formats for adhesive, lamination, magnetic material, or combination finishes. Width still matters, but the first check is the machine family and model number. If you already own the machine, use the old refill label or manual before ordering new Xyron cartridges.

Choose the supply based on the finished piece you need. Adhesive cartridges turn paper, photos, labels, and craft materials into stickers or mounted pieces. Laminating cartridges add a protective film for signs, menus, photos, teaching aids, and handled documents. Magnetic sheet options are better when the finished item needs to attach to a metal surface, such as a message board or display. Some Xyron systems also allow two-sided protection, while others focus on adhesive application. Buyers should avoid choosing only by machine width because finish type changes the result. For protective jobs, compare Xyron laminating cartridges. For sticker work, confirm whether you need permanent adhesive or a display-focused material.

A cold Xyron system is useful when the item may react badly to heat or when a simple cartridge workflow is preferred. Many Xyron machines use pressure-sensitive film, so they can laminate or apply adhesive without warm-up time. This helps with heat-sensitive prints, photos, labels, and craft materials that could curl, discolor, or shift under heat. Cold cartridge systems are also cleaner for users who do not want to set temperatures or manage hot rollers. The tradeoff is that supplies must match the specific Xyron machine, and roll width limits still apply. For quick sticker work, Xyron Create-A-Sticker 500 cartridges are a better match than general laminating film.

Check the maximum roll width supported by your Xyron machine and the width of the item you plan to feed. Xyron options include small craft widths as well as larger widths such as 9", 12", 25", 38", and 42" depending on the machine and supply type. A cartridge that is too narrow will not cover the item, while a supply made for a wider machine may not fit a smaller unit. For adhesive work, extra width can also create waste around small pieces. Buyers making labels or small stickers can usually stay with compact systems. Posters, signs, POP displays, and wide teaching materials need a larger-format Xyron setup with matching cartridges or rolls.

Choose Xyron rolls when the machine is built for roll-fed supply and the work involves larger pieces or higher volume. Smaller cartridges are convenient for stickers, labels, small photos, classroom pieces, and craft jobs, but they can run out quickly during repeated production. Roll supplies are better for wide-format laminating, adhesive mounting, signs, posters, displays, and jobs that need more continuous material. Compatibility is still the main rule: roll width and supply type must match the machine. Do not buy by finishing alone. If your workflow includes larger graphics or recurring display work, compare Xyron rolls with the cartridge options before placing a supply order.
