Frequently Asked Questions

Type holders are sized to match the chase or bed of a specific stamping machine, so before anything else, confirm your machine's maximum stamping area. Too big and it won't seat right. Too small and you're leaving the stamping area unused and it might not center properly either. If you're not sure of your exact dimensions, measure the chase opening directly rather than guessing off the machine's overall size; those two things don't always line up the way you'd expect. Worth checking the full AAMStamp lineup against your specs before you order anything.

A die holder is built for quick changes, swap designs in and out without resetting type every time, great if you're stamping the same one or two images over and over. An open chase holder is more of a do it all setup, letting you mix individual types and dies together in the same holder for custom layouts. If you're doing repeat work with fixed designs, go die holder and save yourself setup time. If you're building custom text combos regularly, the open chase gives you a lot more control.

Only grab a 2-line insert if you're actually stamping two lines of text in one position, like a name over a title. Point size is about how big the text reads, bigger for short punchy text like initials or a date, smaller if you need to fit more text into the same space. If it needs to be readable from a distance, size up. If you're cramming more info in, size down but don't go so small it's hard to read. Always worth running a test stamp before committing to a full batch.

That's exactly what open chase holders are built for, type and die sitting together in one holder for a combined design. Die holders and standalone type holders are more single purpose and don't give you that same flexibility. If a project needs a fixed image plus custom text in one stamp, the open chase is your best bet. Take a look at the available AAMStamp attachments too, since some of those help lock everything into alignment once you're mixing components.

The holder is just the holder, you'll still need type, dies, and foil to actually run a job, and those get sourced separately depending on what you're stamping. A holding pad is worth having too, it gives you a safe spot to set a hot type holder down and clean off excess foil between runs. The AAMStamp accessories range covers those supporting pieces. Just double check everything, holder, machine, dies, is sized to match before you start, mismatched parts won't line up no matter how well each one works on its own.
