Cutting Heads

Replace only the blade when the cutting head still slides correctly, locks properly, and holds the blade at the correct angle. A dull blade can cause tearing, drag, ragged edges, or repeated passes, but the head may still be fine. Replace the full cutting head when the holder is damaged, loose, misaligned, missing safety parts, or no longer accepts blades correctly. Choose the head by finish type. Straight trimming heads are for clean cuts on paper, prints, films, banners, and other supported materials in routine finishing work. Scoring or creasing heads are for creating fold lines without cutting through the material. Perforating heads are for tear-off sections or fold-assist lines where a dotted cut is required. Decorative heads, such as wavy or scallop-style options, are usually for lighter creative work rather than production cutting. Do not swap head styles without checking machine compatibility. One head will not always handle every material well. Paper and light prints may use a standard blade head, while vinyl, banners, foam board, aluminum composite, or thicker boards may need a different blade holder, cutting angle, or scoring tool. Material thickness matters as much as material type. A head that works on thin signage vinyl may not be safe or clean on rigid board. Before ordering, confirm the supported material list for the cutter and the head. Also check blade depth, replacement blade type, and whether scoring or cutting is needed. A print shop should check cutter model, head series, blade type, material range, operator safety, and replacement blade availability. Extra heads are useful when operators switch between straight cutting, scoring, trimming, and specialty cuts during the day. Keeping separate heads can reduce setup time and protect delicate prints from dull blades used on harder materials. It also helps when one head is kept for clean paper cuts while another is used for tougher substrates. Before buying, confirm whether the head fits the current machine and whether the shop has the correct blades in stock.
