Keencut Replacement Blades

For cutter bar work, match the blade to the bar and the material. General trimming may use medium-duty utility blades, while heavier board, mounting material, or graphic work may need stronger blades. Some Keencut blades are made for cutting and scoring, while others are meant only for cutting. If the shop trims prints, foam board, laminated pieces, or display materials, keep the correct blade type near the cutter. Review Keencut cutter bars when confirming which bar or ruler system is in use. Also think about pack size. A production area may need 100-pack replacements, while a light-use studio may only need a smaller supply on hand.

Replace the blade when the operator needs extra pressure, the edge becomes fuzzy, the material drags, or the cut line begins showing roughness. A dull blade can damage printed graphics, laminated work, foam board, textile pieces, and acrylic sheets. It can also make the operator press harder, which reduces control. Do not wait until the blade fails completely if the cutter is used for customer-facing work. Set a replacement rhythm based on material type and volume. Acrylic, board, and heavy substrates wear blades faster than light trimming. If several people use the same cutter, keep labeled replacement packs nearby so no one installs the wrong blade just to finish a job.

For vertical Keencut cutters, confirm the cutter series, blade holder, supported material, and any scoring accessory needed. A blade for one Keencut system may not fit another system safely. Vertical cutters may be used for board, acrylic, foam board, glass, aluminum composite material, or other substrates depending on the machine. If the shop uses a vertical cutter for several materials, build a small blade chart beside the machine. Use Keencut vertical multi-substrate cutters as the reference area when matching blades to the broader cutting system. Also inspect cutting strips and blade tracks because a fresh blade can still cut poorly if the support surface is worn.

Buy cutting strips when the strip is worn, grooved, nicked, or no longer supports the material evenly. A fresh blade can still perform badly if the strip underneath is damaged. Cutting strips help support the material and protect the blade path, especially during repeated trimming or heavier substrate work. Some Keencut systems use specific textile strips, site-line strips, or cutter-series strips, so do not treat strips as universal accessories. If cuts are drifting, tearing, or showing pressure marks even after a blade change, inspect the strip before blaming the blade. Ordering matching strips with replacement blades can reduce downtime and help the cutter keep producing cleaner, more consistent results.
