These presses are rated for a range of materials including corrugated plastic, chipboard, and industrial textile, not just thin vinyl. That said, maximum material thickness varies by specific press and die combination, so confirm the rated capacity before running unusually thick or rigid material through a press sized primarily for banners. Forcing material beyond a press's rated thickness can damage the mechanism or produce an incomplete, loose-set grommet.

For a handful of grommets on a small project, careful measuring by hand is usually sufficient. For larger banners or signage requiring evenly spaced grommets across a long edge, an alignment tool with adjustable guides removes the guesswork that manual measuring often introduces over a long run.
