Ivory Colored Copier Tabs

Straight and reverse collation describe the order in which tab positions are packed for printing and assembly. The correct choice depends on the copier’s paper path, whether sheets exit face up or face down, and how the finished document is assembled. Using the wrong collation can place the tabs in reverse order even when the artwork is correct. Consult the copier instructions or run a small test with numbered sheets to see how the device handles the stack. Some production workflows also turn or rotate the tabs before printing, which changes the required order. Do not assume that a previous machine’s setup will work on a new copier. Documenting the successful tray orientation and print settings can prevent expensive mistakes on later runs.

A reinforced edge adds strength along the side that will be punched and bound. It is useful for manuals, reference documents, and materials that will be opened frequently or kept in service for a long time. Reinforced binding-edge copier tabs can reduce tearing around holes, especially when the tab stock is repeatedly turned. Reinforcement may add thickness, so the copier, punch, and binding element must still accommodate the finished stack. For short-term proposals or lightly handled documents, ordinary tab stock may be sufficient. Consider how often users will turn the sections, whether the document is stored upright, and whether the tabs will be punched in-house or supplied with the required pattern.

Plain tabs offer a consistent paper surface and may be suitable when the documents will receive limited handling. Mylar-coated tabs protect the tab extension from dirt, moisture, and wear, making them useful for frequently used manuals and reference materials. The coating may affect printing, so confirm whether the product is intended for the copier or printer being used and which side should receive the image. Also consider whether only the tab extension is coated or whether other areas have reinforcement. Ivory provides a softer tone than bright white, but printed text still needs enough contrast for quick reading. Run a production sample to assess toner adhesion, colour appearance, feed reliability, and the final position of the label.

Pre-punched tabs can reduce production time when the binding pattern is known and will remain consistent. The punch must match the binding system exactly, including hole count, shape, spacing, and binding edge. Prepunched copier tabs may suit repeat jobs where in-house punching creates delays or alignment problems. Unpunched tabs provide more flexibility when several binding styles are used or when the final pattern has not been decided. Before ordering, confirm whether the document uses comb, coil, wire, three-ring, or another system. Pre-punched stock should also be loaded in the correct copier orientation so the holes and tab extensions remain on their intended sides after printing.
