Use the bypass or multipurpose tray when your equipment recommends it for tabs or card stock. Run a small test before printing a full carton, especially when using coated tabs. If the binder will be handled daily, 110 lb may be worth the firmer feel. If feed reliability is the main concern, 90 lb may be the safer choice.

Choose plain tabs when the job is simple, budget-sensitive, or handled only occasionally. Choose coated tabs when the tab extension needs extra durability and a cleaner finish. Coated tabs help the exposed tab edge resist wear from repeated flipping and handling. Reinforced-edge options can help when the punched edge sees heavy use in ring binders, shared manuals, policy books, or reference documents. If the punched edge is the weak point in your current binders, compare reinforced binding edge copier tabs. Match the coating and reinforcement to how often the finished binder will be used. A heavily handled reference binder usually needs stronger tabs than a one-time handout.

Many copiers and printers can handle tabs, but the equipment must support tab stock or heavier paper. Use the bypass or multipurpose tray when recommended, and set the paper type to heavy, index, tabs, or a similar setting if available. Always run a test for orientation because tab sheets feed differently than normal paper. A wrong feed direction can print on the wrong side or place text in the wrong tab position. A larger cut gives more label space but fewer positions down the sheet. Uncollated tabs are useful when you need a specific position, such as position 1 only or a custom mix across a job. Check whether the tabs are punched, unpunched, plain, coated, and the correct paper weight before ordering. If you usually need a repeating order, straight collated copier tabs may be faster. For custom section builds, uncollated tabs give better control.
