Welcome to MyBinding video. Let’s have a look at the HSM SP 5080. This is both a level 3 cross-cut shredder and automatic baler combination. It shreds what you have and wraps it up for you. The machine is certainly a big investment and large in size. We have a ‘how to’ video right here on our website so you can see just how to do it step by step but for now, the basics. You got your on-off panel, your forward and reverse. This is the fun part. Toss everything into the huge and secure opening, travels down the conveyor belt and into the teeth. The SP 5080 can handle stacks of paper, phonebook and 3-ring binders. It is a workhorse and when it is done shredding; a separate control panel lets you know the bale is ready for tying up and delivery. An included hook tool with the machine allows you to grab the tie downs, 3 simply ties and you’re on your way. When all are tied, a press of a button pops out the back end, roll it over, tied up and you’re all set. The HSM SP 5080 is a compact high performance unit. Welcome to MyBinding video. The HSM SP 5080 and 5088 are large, complex machines that require numerous steps to operate. This is a simple video to kind of walk you through those steps so you can understand best how to use your machine. Here at MyBinding.com we believe in customer service and you can always give us a call should you have any questions at all and HSM is a great company as well and they can help you too. By now you’ve learned how to turn on the machine and you could find the main control panel. Forward and reverse is about all there is on the control panel and simply sliding your documents and let them shreds. This is certainly the fun and easy part. All the shreds come out the back end and as they begin to stack up, the control panel lets you know that the bale is finish and you need to strap it. The first step will be to open the brake. Unlocking and opening this panel just behind the glass wall allows you access to the binding straps. This metal tool that hangs on the side of the machine is inserted into the holes and with a hook, pulls out the straps. Make note that when you insert the tool down inside, it goes in vertically and then with a quarter turn clockwise, it grabs the straps. Do this with all three straps and lay them down ready to tie them up. If all was tied correctly the last time, there should be a strap just laying there in the trough. Pull it out and give it a good double knot tie. The knot doesn’t need to be great looking, just needs to be secure. With the remainder of the single strap coming through the hole, feed it through the small bridge and lay it down the gulley for the next time. When using straight edges and making cuts, be careful. They’re sharp for a reason. Again, make strong double knots, even if they are ugly. Once you’ve made all three ties for the bale straps, you’ve laid the new string for the next time around; it’s time to reset the brake. So go back to the front of the machine below the control panels and reset it. With the touch-pad control panel on the side of the machine, press the ‘go’ button letting the machine do its baling work. You’ll soon notice the empty cavity where the shreds were and the bale that has popped out on the end. The entire contraption holds 3 bales and pushes the new one out. Carefully roll back that into its bag and tie it up. You’re all done. You can see the front end of the newest bale that will come out next. And there it is.
