With so many paper shredders available, finding just the right one can be challenging. However, one you should check out is the MBM DestroyIt 2503 strip-cut shredder. Take a look at its strengths and weaknesses so you can decide if it's right for your office.
Features/ Strengths:
- The 2503 has a 21-sheet shredding capacity, so it's perfect for large shredding jobs. The paper can be up to 10.25" wide, so it's ideal for both letter- and legal-sized documents.
- This machine has a 3/4-horsepower motor. Since it's so powerful, this shredder can destroy CD's, debit/credit cards, and document fasteners. The blades are made out of hardened steel so you can count on them remaining sharp.
- In addition to being powerful, the motor is thermally protected. This feature helps prevent the machine from overheating. Also, there's an automatic shutoff feature so you can save electricity even if you forget to turn the shredder off.
- Although the 2503 has a powerful motor, it doesn't make much noise. This is because the motor sits in a wooden cabinet. The wood helps muffle the sounds so your office can remain quiet.
- The 2503 has a 26-gallon capacity so you and your colleagues can shred a lot without needing to get rid of the paper particles. You can use disposable shred bags with this device because the bin has a pull-out bag frame.

Limitations/Weaknesses:
- The 2503 is a strip-cut shredder so it can't provide as much security as a cross-cut machine. Thus, you shouldn't use this device for destroying extremely confidential documents. However, it's just fine for everyday shredding.
- The size of this shredder might be a problem if you don't have a lot of space in your office. It measures 14.75" (depth) x 19.75" (width) x 34.25" (height) and it's heavy, weighing in at 78 pounds. However, there are casters on the bottom of the unit, so moving it around isn't too difficult.
Recommendation:
It's pretty obvious that the MBM DestroyIt 2503 has many more strengths than weaknesses. This is one device that can shred a lot of paper quickly, destroy banking cards and CD's, and can start operating automatically. It's great that the motor is so powerful and thermally protected, and that there's a huge waste bin so you can shred all day. This machine is safe to use and the warranty is great. However, if you need to security of a cross-cut shredder, this might not be the right device for your office. But if a strip-cut shredder is what you need, you can't go wrong with the 2503. If that's the case, get it for your workplace today.
