This Black 3/16" Foam Core Permanent Adhesive 16" x 20" Mounting Board is a white foam board coated with a pressure sensitive or "cold" adhesive. Sticky to the touch, the adhesive is a high-tack permanent adhesive for maximum hold. You simply need to peel of the release liner and stick your print or poster to the board. You can use this with a laminator to help apply your prints or you can simply apply your prints manually. This mounting board is a sturdy 3/16" thick foam board, lightweight and easy to cut. The board is made of foam, which is light weight and holds up well. It’s surrounded by a cardstock like paper. There are two available sizes of 3/16” and 1/2”. The boards also come in white.
If you compare it to gator foam boards, you’ll notice that the gator is much sturdier, and won’t indent very easily. The paper on the normal foam core does not provide as much protection from indentation.
Now we’re going to apply our media to the board. I’m using a COLD roll laminator to do this.
First adjust the spacing between your rollers to the appropriate size—in this case I have a 3/16” board. If your laminator can’t open to the correct amount, you cannot use this method.
The speed of the rollers does not matter that much for this process.
Ok, now take your board and peel off an inch of the non-stick sheet and fold it. Align your project evenly on the board, and when you are confident it is good, press it to the adhesive that was just revealed.
Now prepare your project to be inserted into the laminator. Drape the media over the roll so it does not stick to the adhesive before inserting the laminator.
While holding the non-stick cover sheet, turn the rollers on. Feed the project through. It’s important that you hold the cover sheet so that it never gets caught in the laminator. But now your project has been evenly applied to your mounting board.
If you need to trim your project from there, use a straight blade cutter like the Fletcher-Terry Titan, or 2200 Mat Cutter.
