With the Safety Speed Helios 60 Substrate Cutter, you can easily cut substrate. This cutter unit has a sturdy anodized aluminium base with two cutting tracks, one for the utility blade and one for the standard cutting wheel. It has an integral levelling adjustment that allows the cutting bar to sit flat on any thickness of material up to 3/4" (20mm). A magnetic blade magazine accepts utility blades and acrylic scoring blades in the cutting head. As standard equipment, a 45mm textile cutting wheel and holder are included.

Welcome to the all-new Helios Desktop Cutter from Safety Speed. Helios comes in 5, 8, and 10 foot lengths, operates on a single track, comes with free cutting cartridges, the acrylic scoring cartridge up to a quarter inch thick acrylic can be scored and snapped. 100 utility blades are included, and that can be used for magnetic, PVC, foam board, and then you also have the textile cutting wheel, which could be used for fabric or thin vinyl.
Key features of the Helios are, of course, it's on a hinge, it can also be table-mounted or portable. There are two holes in the base to screw it down, but it can remain portable. It also has two cutting tracks, one that accepts the blade tips, this black surface is when using the textile cutting wheel.
It also features two silicone inserts in the bottom of the rail, one on the base, and that's what holds your material in place when you clamp it down. There's also a bearing on both sides here that allows you to leave that up while loading material, and then push it down to clamp it in. Another feature for thicker substrates, when you're cutting on the Helios, if you drop it down, it's going to be at a little bit of an angle, so you get a double cut.
So the solution there is the thicker material, you load this one piece in here, and to make that adjustment, it's got two knobs on the sides, and then that flaps, so it's flush with the material, tighten it back in, and now you're going to get a straight cut.
