Rhin-O-Tuff Onyx PAL-14 Piks-A-Lift Electric Paper Separator

Welcome to MyBinding video. Let's take a look at the Rhin-O-Tuff Onyx PAL-14, a Piks-a-Lift automated module. The PAL-14 is an electronic paper separator; it's used to optimize the amount of paper being selected for insertion into the paper punch. It makes the punch part of the binding process much faster by using as many sheets as possible without being too many to jam the punch. Set up is very simple and straightforward, and the system offers enough flexibility to handle tabs, clear covers, oversize covers, and papers of many sizes. It's an all-in-one unit that stands alone by itself or on top of HD or OD punches. Papers are set down on the table top, squared into place and lined up with this beam on the right-hand side, nice and centered. Then, on the left-hand side, you lock down this position to hold all the papers in place. When these are set and the papers are squared, it's time to load the machine. You can place your entire project on top of this base and the Onyx PAL-14 can accommodate up to three reams of paper. With everything loaded in place, simply drop the weight down on top of the paper, and it holds it in place so that the picker picks just the right amount each time. Pressing the green reset button begins the process. The elevator comes down and lands on top of the paper stack. The sensors then read the top of the paper, and with the desired thickness, the picker begins the lift. With the index finger, the operator simply lifts that packet off and puts it in the punch. Meanwhile, the PAL-14 picks the next lift and you're off and running. The strength behind the PAL-14 is the consistency as well as the efficiency of the lift. This dial controls the thickness of each lift. And the PAL-14 will use the new setting for the very next lift. This Onyx module can be used as a standalone or mounted on top of any Rhin-O-Tuff vertical OD or HD punch. Pictured here is the Onyx HD7700, which can also be coupled with the APES 14, which is an automatic paper ejector and stacker. Both machines are great standalone units with any punch system; however, stacking them on top of the machine makes things faster and space efficient. The manual version, the PAL-M, sits on top and, with a thumb push, delivers a new packet, perfect size for your punch. The efficiency is seen right here with a simple lift and a simple drop into the punch. The automated module, the PAL-14, also sits on top. Both machines can be bolted directly to the frame of the HD7000 using the MK2000 module mounting kit.
