Composition Strips are generally suited to ordinary uncoated paper. Coated, glossy, photo, or especially smooth stock can be more difficult for standard thermal adhesive to hold reliably. Those jobs may require a strip intended for hard-to-bind paper, depending on the Fastback machine being used. Confirm the actual binding edge after the document orientation has been decided. Do not cut down a longer strip unless the Fastback instructions support that process, as the strip construction and machine operation may depend on the original dimensions. When a team produces several formats, store each length separately and label the compatible document orientation. This reduces the chance of selecting a strip that matches the colour and width but is too long or too short for the finished document.
