The HSM 225.2 Level 5 High Security Cross Cut Shredder is a mobile, very high performance model for use as a shared device in large offices. This shredder can shred store cards, and credit cards with ease. The HSM 225.2cc offers a modern electronic controller, photoelectric cell for automatic start/stop control an on/off switch with integrated reversing function and a folding safety element, with infeed slot for CDs and floppy disks. The shredder will stop automatically when the container is full or when the door is open and will also automatically stop and auto-reverse in the event of a paper jam. The HSM 225.2 Level 5 High Security Paper Shredder provides an efficient way to quickly destroy even the most sensitive information. With automatic features for easy operation and a sturdy motor for all day use, this shredder is great for any office. Let's take a closer look at the HSM 225.2.

Strengths:

Once this machine is switched on, the motor sits in standby, ready for use at any time. An electronic eye senses paper in the feed and shreds when needed, saving energy by not powering unused blades. The lit display keeps the user updated on the machine's status. If a paper jam occurs, the blades automatically stop and reverse to remove the clogged paper. A flip top lid offers easy access for further clearing as well as oiling. The auto stop also kicks in when the cabinet door is open or if the shred bag is full.
The powerful motor is rated for continuous duty, allowing the device to be used all day. This is especially convenient for large, busy offices with high volume shredding needs. It is also thermally protected against overheating and offers quiet operation, only running at 64 decibels. That's approximately the same sound level as a normal conversation. The closed gear transmission cuts down on dirt and wear, extending the life of your machine.
A 12 inch throat accepts up to 9 sheets of a wide variety of paper sizes. Pages are shred as fast as 27 feet per minute, leaving only tiny particles behind. These miniscule pieces measure 1mm by 11mm and provide a high level 5 security rating. The thousands of paper bits are impossible to reassemble, keeping all your confidential information safe.
Paper confetti rains down into a spacious 26 gallon reusable shred bag. The bag sits in a slide-out wire frame for easy removal and replacement. The generous size container allows a decent amount of shredding to occur before needing to be emptied.
HSM provides a one year warranty on the cutting cylinders, parts, and labor for this product.

Weaknesses:

Weighing over 100 pounds, this is a heavy piece of office equipment. However, there are casters on the bottom for extra portability in case you need to move it around. We don't think this will provide a problem for most users.
Any document fasteners need to be removed before shredding. High security shredders rarely take in anything other than paper. If this is a necessary ability for your office, we suggest the GBC Shredmaster GDHS713.
As with many high security shredders, this one only offers low intake and speed capabilities. Again this is very normal for high security devices; users are usually looking for safety, not necessarily quantity. Even so, the HSM 411.2 Level 5 or 6 provides greater sheet capacity and faster shred speeds while still guaranteeing high security shredding.

Overall, the 225.2 is an excellent system for any busy office. All day shredding constantly destroys any sensitive documents on the spot to keep your information secure. Automatic features simplify use and solid steel blades quickly dice up documents for a convenient and efficient machine. We would highly recommend this device for your next high security office shredder.
