First, there is a lock in the back. Push down on the lever and undo the lock to then make your punches.
The lever is padded, though in my personal opinion it doesn’t make it more comfortable, nor is not having one any less comfortable.
You can adjust the edge guide by pulling it out and in. I’ll set mine to 11 inches.
The product description claims it can punch up to 40 sheets, however I found that it punches closer to 35—and at that much it takes a lot of force to punch through all of them. 20 pages or less should be much more mana ...

From time to time, pull off the bottom pad to empty out the trimmings in the trash or recycle. And it easily pushes back into place.
