When you're warmed and ready to go, lock down your fence on the table so that all projects will go through the same way each time. With your materials ready, press the black button and the rollers begin to move. Then, load your projects in. You can do this one or two at a time. Be sure to keep an eye on what's happening behind the machine so your projects don't bunch up and they have a place to lay flat and cool. Running at 150 centimeters in a minute, the MY2700L can laminate many materials very quickly. There it is, that's the MY2700L. Welcome to MyBinding's How To videos. This video shows you how to set up your MY2700L roll laminator, setting up and getting started. Once you've plugged in the machine, turn on the heating unit. Unless you're going to do cold lamination, it's wise to let the machine heat up before you use it.

During the warm up time, we can put the laminate rolls on. To do so, remove first the top spindle. When putting on your laminate rolls, you always have to make sure the shiny side is facing out and the dull side, or the matte side, is facing in. For the top roll, that means it needs to come off the back side of the roll going down. Make sure your end cap stops are good and tight so there's no movement on the spindle. The dull, or matte, side is the side that contains the adhesive glue. This you always want facing inside toward your project. It can be a pretty big mess to clean the glue off the hot rollers. You want to thread your adhesive laminate just over that back bar and up over the roller placing the shiny side down against the roller. Almost immediately you can observe how the heat of the roller bar is melting the glue, even though the non-glue side is touching the roller.

Do the same thing with the bottom laminate roll, again assuring that the dull side, the matte side that has the adhesive, is facing away from the heating roller. Again, make sure the end caps are nice and tight and then, from underneath, you're going to thread that laminate roll just behind that first bar and up over the heating bar. You need not worry too much about how it looks to begin with because this next step straightens everything out. Place the feeding table, or tray, into place. This will help you keep your projects consistent as you pass them through. It's especially helpful with extra large projects that go all the way to the edge of the laminate, making sure everything stays within the boundaries of the laminating square.

Take a sturdy piece of cardboard or extra thick paper stock and pass it through the rollers first. What this does is bring the two laminating roll sheets together so they're all lined up and all the wrinkles will work out. Let it run for a couple of feet and you'll see that you get it nice and smooth with no bubbles. Now you can begin the process of laminating anything you need. When all is nice and clean, trim it with some scissors or use the razor blade that's connected to the back of this machine and you're all set. Happy laminating! That's how to get setup and started on the MY2700L. For other demos, reviews, and how tos on this product and many more, check out MyBinding.com.

MyBinding MY2700L Premium School Laminator Review

There are a lot of laminator manufacturers around from Fellowes to GBC, Drytac to Royal Sovereign. However, Internet retailer MyBinding.com has come up with their own laminator that will give the machines from the well-known manufacturers a run for their money. The product is the MY2700L, a school laminator. Here's a look at this machine including its strengths and weaknesses.

Strengths:

  • The MY2700L is big enough to process items that are up to 27 inches wide. This is a great laminating width because it will allow you to work with large and small documents including artwork, banners, school assignments, and more.

  • This device uses school laminating film that's 1.5 and 3 mil thick. Since it only takes two thicknesses of film, selecting the right one for your work will be easy. And, no matter which film you use, your documents will look great because this machine has silicone rollers that will spread adhesive evenly with no bubbles or wrinkles.

  • This is a thermal laminator that operates at temperatures of 257 and 275 degrees Fahrenheit for 1.5mil and 3mil setting respectively. It also has a cold setting so you can process items that could possibly be damaged by heat such as documents printed with water-based ink.

  • The MY2700L's rollers can be slightly separated so you can use mounting boards. The boards can be up to 3/16" thick and can be used to create eye-catching visual displays.

  • Whatever your project is, it will be finished quickly because this device can process 150 centimeters of material per minute. (Note: that's about 59 inches.)

  • If you happen to run into any problems when using the MY2700L, it has a reverse mode you can use to get back on the right track. This mode is easy to use, just like the other features of the machine.

  • The MY2700L isn't too big so you'll be able to easily find a place for it. Its dimensions are 34" (width) x 13" (depth) x 14" (height) so it will fit in just about any workspace.

  • Finally, this laminator comes with both a low price and a one-year warranty.

Weaknesses:

  • You can't use laminating film that's thicker than 3 mil with this device. That might be problematic if your documents need the protection a 7 or 10 mil film can provide.

  • The 27-inch laminating width might not be enough if you work with a lot of really large items. In that case, you should consider a wide-format laminator instead.

The MyBinding MY2700L would be a great laminator for educational institutions from preschools to universities. (It would also be good for professional offices.) This device has a lot of great features including a generous laminating width, the ability to with with mounting boards, and the reverse mode. Plus, this laminator is easy to use and it will enable you to quickly process your documents. It's not too big either and the price is right. It would be nice if this machine could handle thicker laminating film, but overall, the MY2700L is a great buy. Pick one up for your school or workplace today.

The vast majority of our customers with this machine will use our 1.5mil 25" or 27" x 500' x 27" laminate on a 1 inch core. This is a school grade laminate that is designed to work well and be economical for educational applications. If you want to upgrade you can certainly run a low melt 1.5 or 3mil film on the machine but the school film should be adequate for most applications.

A school laminator is generally either 25" or 27" and designed to do 1.5 and 3 mil laminating films only. They are simple machines designed for use in a school workroom where multiple users need to access the machine without a lot of training. Office laminators tend to have additional features such as mounting, the ability to handle thicker stocks and other more complex features that may not be included in most school laminators. That being said many offices use school laminators and schools use office laminators. Choose the machine that best fits your needs and don't worry so much about the classification.

This is a heated roller laminator. For most school lamintors heated roller units are preferred as they are easier to work with, easier to clean and provide a more consistent output when using standard melt school grade laminating films.
