Questions & Answers

The straight cutter is primarily designed for downsizing or blanking full sheet mat board to size. It could hypothetically be used to cut a 90 degree opening but the process would be much more involved than using the bevel cutter. The manufacturer does not make a tool specific to make a 90 degree mat opening. Often times if a framer needs an opening that will accept a fillet mounted to the opening, they will use the bevel cutter and intentionally cut a reverse bevel so the fillet can be more easily fit.
