Questions & Answers
Q:
Will it cut 24 g metal?
Asked by Vivian 1 months ago
A:
Thank you for your question. The Swingline Ingento 12" x 12" Maple Guillotine Cutter is designed to cut up to 15 sheets of 20# paper. It may be able to cut a very thin piece of soft metal but cutting material other than paper with this trimmer will dull the blade at a increased rate.

Q:
Where is this paper cutter made?
Asked by thomasb 1 years and 1 months ago ago

Hi Thomas, this trimmer is made in Taiwan. Let us know if you have any other questions on this item.

Q:
can the blade be sharpened?
Asked by martin 1 years and 1 months ago ago
A:
Hi Martin, thank you for your question. All of our guillotine trimmers, including this model, sharpen during normal use of the product. You do not need to perform any other regular maintenance to keep the blade sharp. Let us know if there is something else we can help you with.

Q:
I have an Ingento Paper Cutter 24 inch model that is fairly new. I can no longer lift the handle as the pressure is so tight. How do I fix this?
Asked by Duffy 1 years and 1 months ago ago
A:
The one suggestion we can make if the hinge is tightening up is to try oiling the hinge.

I have put no replacement parts on this unit in its entire lifetime. It is cosmetically as good as new and it cuts like it just came from the factory. How much longer will it last?
Asked by MayKitten 1 years and 1 months ago ago
A:
Wow that is fantastic you still have the trimmer! The blade is self sharpening so there is no life limit to this trimmer.

Q:
Is there a way to adjust the spring so that the knife doesn't shoot back up
Asked by Chantal 1 years and 1 months ago ago
A:
Hi Chantal - thank you for your question. The blade spring on the guillotine trimmer is not adjustable. We suggest relocating your trimmer so that it is farther from the wall to minimize risk of damage.

Q:
my 30 yr old Ingento 1132 cuts poorly-can it be sharpened?
Asked by laughlink 1 years and 1 months ago ago
A:
The blade on the ClassicCut® Ingento™ Guillotine Trimmer is self-sharpening, but because you've exceeded the 10 year warranty period it may be time to retire your trimmer.

Q:
My Ingento 12" blade is dull. I know it is supposed to be self-sharpening, but it isn't. Can I get a replacement blade or do I have to just buy a new cutter?
Asked by nanbuck 1 years and 1 months ago ago
A:
Because the blade is indeed self-sharpening we not recommend replacing the blade on a guillotine trimmer, and we do not sell blades separately.

Q:
Where can I find replacement blades for this unit?
Asked by K. STEWART 1 years and 4 months ago ago
A:
Unfortunately for safety reasons GBC/Swingline do not offer replacement blades for the Ingento series of trimmers. However, the blades for these units can be sharpened multiple times. Simply take the blade to a local sharpening or grinding shop and they should be able to hone the edge and make it as good as new.
