Sheets are practical for standard print sizes, short runs, and work where preparation speed matters. They reduce cutting and make it easier to keep adhesive dimensions consistent. Rolls suit varied formats, larger graphics, and production environments that need many different sizes. A roll can reduce waste when pieces are planned carefully, but it requires accurate measuring and clean cutting. Whichever format is selected, the tissue should be slightly smaller than the print so exposed adhesive does not contact the press. Consider storage as well because adhesive material should remain clean, flat, and protected from moisture or dust. Estimate normal print sizes and monthly volume before ordering. A format that matches recurring jobs usually produces less waste and fewer preparation errors than selecting solely by package price.

Dry mounting tissue normally requires equipment capable of applying controlled heat and even pressure across the full project. The temperature, dwell time, and pressure must match the adhesive and materials. A cold laminator or hand roller will not activate a heat based tissue unless the specific product is designed differently. Release material should be placed between the project and the heated surface to prevent adhesive transfer. Release paper for mounting adhesive helps protect the equipment and keeps exposed adhesive from sticking to the platen or rollers. Allow the machine to reach a stable temperature before processing. For unfamiliar materials, test a small sample and inspect it after cooling before mounting valuable or irreplaceable work.

Begin with clean, dry, flat materials. Dust, moisture, folded tissue, and uneven trimming can create visible imperfections after pressure is applied. Cut the tissue so it stays within the print edges, then assemble the print, adhesive, and backing without trapping air or debris. Preheat the equipment fully and use the temperature and dwell time recommended for the adhesive. Excessive heat can damage the image or backing, while insufficient heat can leave weak areas. Pressure must reach the full surface evenly, especially near corners and edges. Let the mounted piece cool under a flat weight when recommended, since movement during cooling may encourage curling. Testing becomes particularly important with coated prints, porous boards, heavy ink coverage, or materials that have been stored in humid conditions.

Pressure sensitive adhesive is often more suitable when the print or substrate cannot tolerate heat, when immediate mounting is needed, or when the available equipment does not include a heated press. It can also support materials that may distort, discolor, or release moisture under heat. Application still requires careful alignment because many pressure sensitive bonds become difficult to reposition once firm contact is made. Pressure sensitive mounting adhesive rolls suit larger graphics and repeated mounting work. Consider whether the display is temporary or permanent, whether the surface is smooth or textured, and whether the project will be used indoors or outdoors. The adhesive should match the print, substrate, environment, and expected service life.
