The phrase “paper jogger” is a curious one but its meaning is really simple. A paper jogger issimply a machine that can vibrate a stack of paper to line up all the sheets for further preparation, such as punching, binding, and cutting. These are great machines to use in busy offices, copy shops, and other environments in which a lot of paper is processed on a regular basis. If you don’t have one of these devices, you should considering getting one so you can save a lot of time. Here are some things you need to consider when deciding which one to get.

1. A good jogging capacity. Probably the most important consideration is how many sheets the device can handle at a time. You’ll need to think about how much paper you’re going to be processing and choose a machine that meets this need. A lot of jogger only have one bin but there are some that have multiple bins so you can work with as many sheets as possible.
2. The size of your materials. The size of your materials is also incredibly important since not every jogger can handle all sizes of paper. Most of the ones on the market can easily accommodate letter-sized sheets (8.5” x 11”) and there are some that can work with larger ones, such as those that are tabloid-sized (11” x 17”).
3. If you work with specialty items or not. Something you need to know about paper joggers is that not all of them can handle items such as envelopes, glossy stocks, and oddly sized documents. Luckily, there are specialty joggers that can process these materials. One thing that’s incredibly helpful is a flat jogger. You’ll have to hold your materials as they’re jogged which can be a bit inconvenient, but it will get the job done.
4. If you want to reduce static. Static electricity can build up easily and make it difficult for you to separate your sheets. However, you can solve this problem by using a jogger that shoots compressed air. This eliminates the static for easier processing. Granted, these devices can be a bit more expensive, but you may find that the extra cost is worth it.
5. How much space you have. The available space you have will definitely influence your decision. Tabletop joggers tend to be smaller so they’re ideal if you don’t have a lot of room in your workspace. If you have more space to spare, a floor-standing unit may be just what you need.
