What supplies should I have with my shredder?
Paper shredders are handy machines. They make it easy for you to get rid of private documents so you can protect people’s identities and comply with privacy regulations. However, there are some accessories for your machine that can make operating it even easier. Here’s a quick look at what’s available:
- Shredder bags. Emptying your shredder’s waste bin can be challenging simply because it’s too easy to make a mess. You can make disposal easier by lining the waste bin with a shredder bag. When the bag gets full, just tie it off like your would a regular garbage bag and recycle. It’s quick and easy.
- An automatic oiler. If your machine is on the large side, you may be able to outfit it with an automatic oiler. These helpful contraptions can oil your shredder on a regular basis so it will stay in great shape. Oilers are available for machines from MBM and Dahle.
- Shredder oil. Finally, you should make sure you always have shredder oil on-hand whether your machine has an automatic oiler or you oil the device manually. Shredder oil is designed to keep the machine’s gears lubricated so they can continue to work without any problems. If you don’t already oil your shredder, you should start so you can get the most out of your machine.
